Ms. Lorraine Rutter

Mrs. Rutter is a 1987 graduate of Sherburne-Earlville High School in Sherburne, N.Y.  She attended Slippery Rock University where she got a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication’s.  After working a short time as a Social Worker for The Bair Foundation in New Wilmington PA, she went back to Slippery Rock University where she became a graduate assistant to the Dean of Admissions and Dean of Academic advisement and completed her Master’s Degree in Child and Adolescent Counseling in 1994.  She then worked as a Social Worker at George Junior Republic.

In 1998, she was hired by the Mercer County Juvenile Probation Department to develop a new diversion program for the Mercer County Courts through a JAIBG grant from PCCD.  She wrote and developed the Mercer County Community Court Program that diverts low-level juvenile offenders to a Community Court Panel, made up of volunteers that oversee the juvenile cases.  Once the juvenile completes the program successfully, the charges are dismissed.  This program was so successful, that the Mercer County Commissioners added the program to the County once grant funding ended.  The program is still running today and seeing hundreds of cases per year, keeping them from reaching the level of the Mercer County Court of Common Pleas.

Mrs. Rutter then pursued her School Counseling Certification in 2003 and in 2004, she was hired by Greenville School District as the High School Guidance Counselor.  Then in 2007 Mrs. Rutter was hired by Lakeview M/HS as the Middle School Guidance Counselor for grades 5-8 and found Lakeview to be a home away from home.  In 2018 Mrs. Rutter then became part of the Oakview Team as the Elementary Guidance Counselor for grades K-5 and finds her job, more of an investment of care and love for her students.
